Republican state lawmaker Robert John May III was arrested at his home following a federal indictment that charges him with the distribution and possession of explicit content. The 10-count indictment stems from an investigation led by Homeland Security.
Authorities allege that May, a married father and vocal pro-family advocate, used the alias “joebidennnn69” on the messaging app Kik to share over 220 explicit files involving toddlers and young children engaging in sexual acts.
Federal prosecutors further stated that, during a search of May’s home in 2024, investigators found videos allegedly showing him engaged in sexual activities with three females in Colombia who appeared to be underage and potentially compensated for the acts.
Due to the nature of the content and the fact that May has children close in age to some of the individuals involved, the court ruled that he remain in custody until trial.
If convicted, May could face a prison sentence ranging from five to twenty years. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may follow as digital forensic analysis continues.
