The Mayor of Kerrville has confirmed that a total of 27 people have lost their lives in the devastating flooding that struck the region earlier this week. In a press conference this morning, Mayor Jessica Hartley reported that the victims included 18 adults and 9 children.
The flooding, which began after heavy rainfall overwhelmed local rivers and streams, caused widespread damage throughout the area. Rescue teams are continuing to search for missing individuals, but the situation remains critical as more storms are forecasted for the coming days.
Mayor Hartley expressed her condolences to the families affected by the disaster and praised the efforts of local first responders and emergency crews. “We are heartbroken by this loss, and our community will work together to support those impacted,” Hartley said.
As of now, recovery operations are underway, with the National Guard and local volunteers assisting in rescue and relief efforts. The full extent of the damage is still being assessed, but the mayor urged residents to remain vigilant and follow evacuation orders when issued.
