BREAKING: WH Put On Lockdown After Reports Of Shots Fired

The White House was briefly placed on lockdown on Monday after a nearby officer-involved shooting triggered a rapid response from the United States Secret Service, sending staff and reporters scrambling for cover.

Agents quickly secured the complex and moved members of the press into the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room as a precaution while the situation unfolded just outside the perimeter.

In an update, the Secret Service confirmed that personnel responded to an officer-involved shooting at 15th Street and Independence Avenue in Washington, D.C.

“U.S. Secret Service personnel are on the scene of an officer-involved shooting at 15th Street and Independence Avenue in Washington, D.C. One individual was shot by law enforcement; their condition is currently unknown. Please avoid the area as emergency crews are responding,” the agency said.

The incident prompted a temporary lockdown of the White House complex as officials worked to determine whether there was any broader threat.

No injuries inside the White House grounds have been reported, and there was no immediate indication that Donald Trump was in danger during the incident.

After a brief period, restrictions were lifted and normal activity resumed, signaling that authorities had contained the situation.

Officials have not yet released details about what led up to the shooting or the identity of the individual involved. The investigation remains ongoing.
